Acquittal on charges of aggravated assault and assault with a weapon
Montreal, October 2018.
A client retained Me Morin's services to complete his trial, following his previous lawyer's request to exit the file in the middle of his trial. He was charged of one count of aggravated assault and one of assault with a weapon. The Crown submitted evidence that he threw a glass bottle in the face of the plaintiff, severly injuring her.
Following Me Morin's arguments, the accused was acquitted because his identification by the plaintiff could not convince the Court beyond reasonable doubt. The plaintiff contradicted herself in her statements and could not reliably describe the accused.
